Coin Appraisals

All American Coin owner Clayton Taylor knows a thing or two about coins because he’s seen a coin or two.

The first photo here is Clayton from 1981. He’s holding a 1907 Rolled edge $10 gold eagle worth about $30,000 at that time. Today that coin would be worth about $200,000 depending on the grade. Those U.S. gold coins piled high in the photo were worth about $100,000 at that time. Today they would be worth over half a million dollars.

As a full time Fort Myers coin dealer since 1980 Clayton Taylor has the experience to help properly appraise the value of your coins. Sometimes you don’t really need a full written appraisal. If you just want a casual verbal appraisal we’re happy to help you with that at no charge to you. However, if you do need a written appraisal call All American Coin.

Rare Silver Dollar Found at Ocala Coin Show!

All American Coin found a 1901 Morgan dollar PCGS graded au 50 graded, double die reverse, for a local collector. How rare is this silver dollar? Nobody knows for sure. But what we do know is that the collector has been looking for this coin for his collection for over ten years. He was thrilled when we found it for him. Why was he so thrilled ? One reason, it was the last coin to complete his collection. Another reason is that in the next higher grade this coin can sell for over ten thousand dollars while this one was well under two thousand dollars.

The finest 1901 Morgan dollar known grades just MS-62 + and has an estimated worth of $75,000. In all grades it is estimated that only one thousand of these survive in all grades. That makes it one of the rarest of all Morgan dollars. What’s super cool about this coin? It is a naked eye double die, meaning you don’t need a magnifying glass or a loop to see the doubling on the eagles tail . Also it is on a big popularly collected coin the Morgan dollar which has no other better double dies . Also the coin is featured in the Redbook with its own picture.

Local Coin Dealer sees snow for first time, GOES CRAZY!

Local fifty year old Fort Myers Coin Dealer and long time friend, Rick DeSanctis recently traveled north to Toronto for an uncle’s funeral and was amazed to see snow for the first time. He immediately ran out near naked into what he called a blizzard to experience it for the first time in his life! Rick was born in the Keys and has lived most of his life in Fort Myers so he has never had a chance to see snow.

Can you imagine? Asked what he thought about snow , Rick shuddered ,”it’s ccolddd!” as he scampered back inside. His wife the lovely and popular Patty DeSanctis refused to join in the shirtless frolic. Apparently she is snow fun.

8 Tips for Selling Your Coins & Bullion | All American Coin Fort Myers Coin Dealer

8 Tips for Selling Your Coins & Bullion

  1. First make some phone calls and ask some questions to get an idea how much your items are worth. Prices on bullion related items can be easily shopped this way. The last thing you want to do is to run all around town with your valuables.
  2. Keep your business confidential to protect your security. Deal with someone you feel comfortable with and that you can trust.
  3. Chose the best dealer for you, a full time numismatist. Not some fly -by-night guy or hotel buyers or some guy in a flea market they all pop up when the metals are high to make a quick dollar at your expense. Also avoid jewelers whose knowledge about coins is limited.
  4. Accept only immediate payment. Why risk anything else? Avoid local auctions, your items will be tied up for months, may not sell and the commissions run up to 30%. Attendance at some of these auctions can be disappointing leading to poor prices or no sales tying your merchandise up even longer.
  5. Visit an actual coin shop, not just a guy with an office. A lot of times you can see what your coins are worth by looking at his coins.
  6. Do not clean your coins, you could rub off the original surfaces and luster making your coins worth less and besides that it’s tedious and time consuming.
  7. Don’t buy any new supplies to house the coins that you are going to sell it’s just a waste of money.
  8. Keep an eye on your coins, don’t let them out of your sight why risk it no reason to.
